About Shell E4

To accelerate India’s transition to a sustainable energy future by becoming a major actor in the entrepreneurial ecosystem by linking talent, technology, capital and know-how for energy entrepreneurs in the country.

Our Mission is to empower and enable identified Indian entrepreneurs, working on energy related start-ups to help them become sustainable, profitable and significantly impactful organizations. Our objectives are:

  1. Co-creating and developing the start-up ecosystem in India - Convene leaders, expertise and resources to build and mobilize the start-up ecosystem by sourcing, defining and executing impactful projects.
  2. Offer world-class start-up hub to support and enable energy related start-ups:  Programmes structured in ways that suit the unique nature of energy start-ups which typically require longer gestation periods given the requirements of development & robust testing.
  3. Establish a strong investor network for energy related start-ups: Define a Shell start-up investment strategy for India providing case for investors internal and external to invest in India energy related start-ups.

Shell E4 Program provides a platform for collaboration and conversation around valuable energy transitions, offering startups an opportunity to bring their ideas to life with Shell’s guidance and support. The Shell E4 program builds upon the company’s global vision to support the energy sector’s evolving ecosystem. Shell has a rich history of working with entrepreneurs across the energy value chain globally. Startups shall have access to infrastructure, expertise, capital and customers to help them accelerate their business growth and test the commercial and technical viability of their business offering. The startups will benefit from Shell’s Technology Labs and IT infrastructure, resources, network of partners and customers, and will also have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to other potential investors brought in during the program.

Shell E4 Program has four tracks relevant for start-ups at various maturity levels with unique needs.

  • Debasis Goswami

    Debasis Goswami

    General Manager, Shell E4 Startup Hub

    Debasis has over 20 years’ experience across multiple Global organizations. He has worked extensively in Open innovation , Strategy, New Product Innovation, Business Development. Debasis lead the Open Innovation Platform for an MNC prior to joining Shell E4. He has lead multiple New Growth initiatives in his prior organizations and commercialized solutions to market. Debasis is an MBA in Marketing & Finance, BE in Mechanical Engineering. He is an avid photographer & loves to play and watch cricket, football. Debasis is passionate about the startup ecosystem and works closely with several startups as a mentor.

    Tapan Jha

    Program Manager, Shell E4 Startup Hub

    Tapan holds an Engineer-Electronics & MBA-Marketing & IT degree with 15 years of total diverse experience in Shell and multiple Global organizations, currently he is working as Program Manager Shell E4, he works closely with the Shell E4 cohorts along with internal and external stakeholders to help them derive the maximum values from the program and he is running other initiatives under clean and green energy theme to build future startup eco-system. In his previous role with Shell he worked as advocate for organization to external infrastructure suppliers T-Systems (T-Mobile), DXC, AT&T & TCS, he was managing and engaging suppliers for commercial viability, Critical Service Levels and maintain & improve Shell project initiation processes along with change management. He is an apt guitar player, music composer and loves to do DiY projects with family.

    Aditya Verma

    Partnerships & Deployment Manager, Shell E4 Startup Hub

    Aditya leads the Pilots and Deployments of E4 Startup portfolio by identifying strategic opportunities for startups. He has around 20 years’ experience in Business finance and supporting business in commercial, bench marking and decision & strategy support. Has had managed implementation of strategic project on business transformation and re-organization. Prior to Shell, he has worked in Tata Communications, EDS and ITC Limited. Aditya has a background in Cost and Management Accounting, Production engineering and a management course from London School of Economics. Currently pursuing his Data Science and Business Analytics from IIT Madras. Aditya is into reading and is also an avid cyclist and a marathoner. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and startups.

    Investment Advisor, Shell E4 Startup Hub

    Experienced Investment Professional with 8+ years of experience in the venture capital space in India, complemented by expertise in Finance and Analytics. Led 15+ notable investments across sectors. At Shell, currently leading deals and managing the portfolio for Shell India and evaluating deep tech start-up investments across energy, mobility, and climate Tech.

    Previously, responsible for establishing and overseeing investment governance and syndication at Tata Trust Fund (Social Alpha). Before that, led India Investments at Lead Angels.

    Akanksha is a commerce graduate with 8 years of diverse experience in in corporate restructuring, transaction advisory, investment banking and Deal structuring. In current role with Shell, she is responsible for managing compliances, deal structuring and documentation for all Start ups under Shell's E4 program. She has a keen interest in travelling and painting.

  • Dimpi Gupta

    Dimpi Gupta

    Administrative Business Support, Shell E4 Startup Hub

    Dimpi is associated with the E4 Team since Nov'23 and currently looking after the administrative aspects of the team. She leads the Events & Activities, Payments & Purchase and over all team coordination.

    Dimpi holds an bachelor’s degree in Tourism & Management, dual diploma in Hospitality & Airport Operations along with 11 years of total diverse experience from multiple global organizations including SAP Labs, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, GE India and others.

    She is a passionate traveller, explorer & photographer and she loves to spend time in gardening & recycling DiY activities and to play music instruments. Other than the Mon-Fri salaried job, she is also a social worker on weekends, for past 7years and has been trying in multiple ways to contribute in the society to bring smile & educate the underprivileged children.

    Start up Consultant

    Pratik is a Startup Consultant at Shell E4 and a former Incubator Manager at IIM Lucknow's Enterprise Incubation Center (EIC). With a passion for startups, he has mentored hundreds of founders. As a detail-focused, solution-oriented, and innovative problem solver, he brings extensive expertise in investor relations, program management, marketing, and business development. Over the past 8 years, he has established strategic alliances with corporations and government agencies, supporting the global startup ecosystem. He believes in continuous learning and exchanging experiences to stay motivated and self-driven, living by Albert Einstein's words: "The only source of knowledge is experience."

E4 Hub

Our Hubs

The Shell E4 Startup Hub is located in the Shell Technology Centre Bangalore, which provides start-ups with round-the-clock proximity to Shell subject matter experts and advisors who can help them develop or refine their products.

In addition, the start-ups also have access to infrastructure and testing facilities. Shell’s large global partner network providing opportunities for niche networking at multiple energy-focused events and engagements.

It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Kempegowda International Airport to Shell Technology Center. Approximate driving distance between Kempegowda International Airport and Shell Technology Center is 14 kms.
